ABOUT RAYMOND GIGLIO
I was born in June of 1945 to Lenard and Alice Giglio. My parents owned an operated a dairy farm in Bolton, CT. I was six when I started learning how to operate and drive farm equipment. When I was 15, my parents bought a farm in Coventry, CT and we moved there. I was a member of the first graduating class of Coventry High School.

From 1966 to 1969 I served in the Army Signal Core and had the opportunity to travel in the service. I was stationed in Fort Dietrich, Maryland, Ankara, Turkey, and Asmara, Ethiopia. After my three year enlistment where I achieved a rank of E5, I returned to my parents house. I got a job at Singer Business Machines from January 1970 to November 1972 when I returned to the family business.
In 1961 my parents started a Grocery store, Allen's Market, and a package store. At first I helped run the business, and ordering stock and managing employees. I started my own refrigeration business, R&K Refrigeration, in 1974 and started maintaining the store's refrigeration equipment as part of my business. I met my wife Beverly in 1975 when she got a job at Allen's market. We were married in 1980 and our older daughter, Amy, was born soon after.

ASAP Water Pump Service was started in 1986 when I purchased Russell’s Pump Service from my friend and mentor, Russell Weigold. I combined the water pump business with my existing refrigeration business. My younger daughter, Sheri, was born the next year. I was lucky enough to be able to bring both my daughters to work with me from a young age.

In time, I took over more and more of the work as Russ moved on to retirement. He passed away in 2007 and he is sorely missed. When my youngest daughter was in high school, she went to work with me during the summer. She continued to work with me on an off throughout college before moving on to other jobs. These are some of my fondest memories.

Today, I have one service vehicle and do all onsite work myself. I remain a sole proprietor, specializing in personal customer service, primarily servicing residential and small commercial water systems as well as small commercial refrigeration equipment.
